UPDATE 28 Sep 2017

Due to last week’s power disruption, the road closure on Boundary Road and Kawai St South will be extended for a further four weeks to 1 December 2017.

The power disruption prevented contractors from isolating relevant power services. To prevent project delays it has been agreed to alter the schedule of works to focus on completing stage 1 (Kawai Street) and moving onto stage 3 (Boundary Road).

This should allow for the power issues to be resolved, and then the final section of pipeline around the corner of Boundary Rd and Kawai St can be completed. This approach will minimise any potential delays caused by this outage.

Resident access/ Road parking

During this period there will be no traffic access on to Boundary Rd off from Waimea Rd. Traffic will still be able to turn out of Boundary Road on to Waimea Road. Please see the attached map for details.

Fulton Hogan’s STMS will communicate with residents by way of letter drop and/or face to face communication to keep you informed of work areas, access requirements to driveways and parking restrictions while the work progresses.

UPDATE 17 November 2017

Due to the complexities involved with working around the critical infrastructure located at the corner of Kawai St South and Boundary Road, the current road closure will need to be extended for a further two weeks, to 15 December 2017.

The critical infrastructure that we must work around as we lay the new stormwater pipe is:

  •  Water Supply trunkmain, which is one of the main feeds for the Nelson water supply.
  •  Three high voltage power cables that supply a large percentage of the city.

Resident access/ Road parking

During this extension, the site layout will remain as it is currently with the corner of Kawai St South and Boundary Road closed to traffic. Please see the attached map for details.

Fulton Hogan’s traffic management staff will communicate with you by way of letter drop and/or face to face to keep you informed of where they’ll be working, access requirements to driveways and parking restrictions as the project progresses.
