Temporary Road Closure - Community Celebration Parade

2021 Community Celebration Parade Road Closures

Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Asphalt & General to temporarily close the below roads to ordinary traffic. This will be for a Community Celebration Parade in COVID-19 Alert Level 1. The first contingency date and times are listed below.

Sunday 16 January 2021 - 6:00 am – 3:30 pm:

  • Hardy Street – between Rutherford Street and Morrison Street
  • Trafalgar Street – between Hardy Street to Grove Street and Hathaway Terrace including Trafalgar Park Lane and Trafalgar Carpark
  • Montgomery Square

Sunday 16 January 2021 - 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm:

  • Bridge Street – at the intersection with Trafalgar Street
  • Halifax Street - at the intersection with Trafalgar Street

    List of Contingency Dates - if we are not in COVID-19 Alert Level 1 for the above:
    Sunday 20 February 2022    - closed between 6:00 am – 3:30 pm.
    Sunday 20 March 2022        - closed between 6:00 am – 3:30 pm.
    Sunday 17 April 2022          - closed between 6:00 am – 3:30 pm.

This is in lieu of the Santa Parade, but Santa will still be joining us if the Parade does not go ahead due to COVID-19 Alert Levels in December.

The roads will be closed and access will be unavailable during this time.  The Parade will start from Montgomery Square
