Current Nelson Plan engagement

Nelson City Council was looking to release the Draft Whakamahere Whakatū Nelson Plan for public feedback early in 2020.

The Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown has meant that public engagement has been postponed. Council will use the time available to further test the Draft Plan.  Wider public engagement will get underway later this year.

From 6 October – 6 December 2020 Nelson City Council is inviting public feedback on the Draft Whakamahere Whakatū Nelson Plan.

This engagement has been rescheduled from earlier this year due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The Draft Nelson Plan outlines how Nelson will grow and develop, and how we will manage our environment in the future.

This is the first phase of a three-phase process enabling the community to contribute to the development of the Plan. The second phase of engagement is planned for early next year on flooding and coastal hazards, and other parts of the Plan not released in Phase one. A third phase of formal consultation will occur in 2022 as part of the formal notification process.
