Erosion and Sediment Control Guidelines for Small Sites

Erosion and sediment control is a requirement under the Nelson City Council Resource Management Plan for work sites involving land disturbance. The erosion and sediment control requirements are shown in section 9 of the Nelson City Council Land Development Manual.

For smaller sites (less than 3000m2) it is not usually necessary to provide a formal erosion and sediment control plan for approval, however building consent plans that are submitted for approval are required to show what measures will be implemented to provide erosion and sediment control to the site.

Nelson City Council has created a brochure (‘Erosion and Sediment Control Guideline for Small Sites’) which acts as a guideline for what types of erosion sediment control should be provided on building sites, and this can also be used by designers who will need to show these works on building consent applications.

This brochure can be downloaded in pdf format using the link below, and it is also available in hardcopy from the Nelson City Council Customer Services Reception.
