Hardy Street Watermain Renewal
What we are doing
Council is replacing the water main along on the southern side of Hardy Street - between Collingwood and Trafalgar Streets. Tasman Civil has been contracted to carry out this work on Council's behalf.
Business and residents on this busy central city street we contacted well in advance of the project starting to see how the effects of construction could be minimised. As much as possible will be done to manage any potential disruption to business, customers and residents.
Why we are doing it
The existing water main has failed several times recently and needs to be replaced to provide a reliable supply.
Construction starts on site from 20 May 2019 and should be completed by the end of June, subject to weather conditions or any unforeseen delays, due to working in the busy central city area.
The traffic lane on the southern side of the road will be closed 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday. Single lane traffic will be maintained at all times travelling from Trafalgar Street to Collingwood Street. There will also be some loss of parking in the area. Pedestrian access to businesses will always be maintained. Both traffic lanes will be open during the weekend.
