Bridge Street courtesy crossing upgrade
Work starts on (Sunday 7 May) on upgrading some courtesy crossings around the city. The first site is the crossing on Bridge Street at the end of Fiddle Lane, which is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
The other crossings to be upgraded include the one at Wakatu Lane off Trafalgar Street and the two on Morrison Street. Start dates for these sites and traffic management details will be added once they are confirmed.
Work will include replacing the existing brick pavers with exposed aggregate concrete, as per all the other crossings. This will also allow for better bicycle access.
At the first site on Bridge Street, traffic will be reduced to a single lane (one way) between Trafalgar and Collingwood Streets. The majority of car parks will be available however we will need to remove some car parks to make space for the temporary pedestrian crossings on either side of the site.
