Rugby World Cup project manager appointed
The Council has appointed Simon Bruce-Miller to the role of Project Manager - Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2011. He begins his full-time role on 14 September, joining the team of staff responsible for the planning and delivery of Nelson's successful bid to host RWC 2011.

The Council has appointed Simon Bruce-Miller to the role of Project Manager - Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2011. He begins his full-time role on 14 September, joining the team of staff responsible for the planning and delivery of Nelson's successful bid to host RWC 2011.

As project manager, Simon is responsible for coordination of the two RWC 2011 matches, team hosting (still to be advised), the festival of Rugby, and fan zones. Divisional Manager Community Services Susan Coleman will continue in her existing RWC 2011 role as an official spokesperson and relationship manager.

Long lunch a rousing success

On 9 September Nelson celebrated two years to go to RWC 2011 in grand style with a traditional Italian long lunch down the centre of Trafalgar Street. The volunteer organisers did a tremendous job planning the event and organising massive business involvement. Travel /hospitality packages

For visitors wanting to book hospitality packages, Rugby Travel and Hospitality (NZ) Ltd (RTH NZ) has been appointed to create, manage, and implement the official hospitality programme for RWC 2011. Details of these packages can be found at www.rth2011.com.

Rugby fans will be able to buy travel packages from 1 January 2010.
