RWC 2011 project manager appointed
Nelson City Council has appointed Simon Bruce-Miller to the role of Project Manager - Rugby World Cup 2011. He begins his full-time role on 14 September, joining the team of staff responsible for the planning and delivery of Nelson's successful bid to host RWC 2011.
As project manager, Mr Bruce-Miller is responsible for coordination of the two RWC 2011 matches, team hosting (still TBA), the festival of Rugby, and fan zones. Divisional Manager Community Services Susan Coleman will continue in her existing RWC 2011 role as an official spokesperson and relationship manager.
Mr Bruce-Miller has extensive international experience in the hospitality and events industry, most recently managing The Lodge at Paratiho Farms in Upper Moutere for the last five years.
He spent three years in London managing hospitality for events such as Twickenham Rugby Internationals, Henley Royal Regatta, and the PGA European Tour events.
Prior, he lived in Africa working in some of the world's most renowned safari lodges such as Abu's Camp - Elephant Back Safaris and Tongabezi Lodge.
He has a BA (Hons) in International Tourism Management at Brighton University in the UK.
Mr Bruce-Miller has travelled extensively around the world. Apart from living in the UK, Africa and New Zealand, he has also lived in Mauritius, Turkey, Finland and Uzbekistan.
