Sat 15 Dec, 7-10pm (rain day Sun 17 Dec)
Centre of New Zealand (Botanical Reserve) & Sir Stanley Whitehead Park
Theme: Invention & Imagination
Get creating and make yourself a homemade lantern to bring along. Remember to use a battery-powered light to avoid fire risk.
The celebrations begin as you make your way up the hill, to the Centre of New Zealand. Along the track, you will discover inventive installations and imaginative performances. Once at the top of the hill, listen to some groovy music, get your face painted and watch the sun slowly set.
Then it’s time to trail back down the hill. Use your lanterns to light your way, bringing to life the wonders that the night offers.
- On the 'up track' only, from 7-9pm
- At Sir Stanley Whitehead Park from 7.30pm - dark-fall
- UV Light Show on the 'down track' at dark-fall
Bring a picnic, light-source and warm clothing.
Children under 13 must be supervised by an adult.
This is a zero rubbish event.
If wet, the event will be rescheduled to Sun 16 Dec. Check here and the ‘summerinnelson’ Facebook page for updates.
