Approved Temporary Road Closure - Franklyn Street
DELAYED DUE TO THE WEATHER - NOW STARTING TUESDAY 7 JULY
Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Fulton Hogan to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Franklyn Street - between no. 27 and Kawai Street (including the intersection with Tipahi Street)
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 6 July to Sunday 19 July 2026 – 7:00 am to 6:30 pm (Franklyn Street - excluding the intersection - will be closed 24-hours a day)
Please note: the Franklyn/Tipahi Street intersection will only be closed for the first week
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Monday 20 July to Friday 24 July 2026 – 7:00 am to 6:30 pm
The closure is for repairs to the surface of the road.
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available – please expect delays and follow the directions of onsite staff.
- No roadside parking will be available.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal – with the assistance of onsite staff.
- Pedestrian access will be provided safely.
- The Route 3 eBus will terminate at Totara Street (all Bus Stops on the Hospital loop will be closed). Please see ebus.nz for any updates.

This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
