Approved Temporary Road Closure - Chings Road

Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Asphalt & General to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Chings Road - between Waimea Road & The Ridgeway
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July 2026 – 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Contingency is included in the dates above.
The closure is for a stormwater upgrade.
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available from The Ridgeway end of the closure – please follow the directions of onsite staff. Delays are possible.
- No roadside parking will be available.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal.
- Pedestrian access will be provided safely.
Council would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding when road closures occur.
This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
