Approved Temporary Road Closure - Haven Road (one-way) & Wakatu Lane

Nelson City Council has approved a proposal from Isaac Construction to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
- Haven Road (one-way) - between Rutherford Street and Bridge Street
- Wakatu Lane - at the Rutherford Street entrance
Date and time of scheduled closure: Wednesday 1 July to Monday 30 November 2026 – starting at 5:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (this is a 24-hour closure)
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Tuesday 1 December to Friday 11 December 2026 – starting at 5:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (this is a 24-hour closure)
The closure is for the construction phase of the Bridge to Better Project.
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available to Wakatu Square Carpark – via Achilles Avenue.
- Vehicle access requirements for businesses within the closure will be managed by onsite staff.
- No roadside parking will be available.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal – with the assistance of onsite staff.
- Pedestrian access will be provided safely.

This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
