Approved Temporary Road Closure - Bridge Street East

Nelson City Council has approved a proposal from Isaac Construction to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:

Bridge Street East - between Trafalgar Street and Collingwood Street

Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 4 May to Friday 11 December 2026 – starting at 5:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (this is a 24-hour closure)

Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Contingency is included in the dates above.

The closure is for the construction phase of the Bridge to Better Project.

• Vehicle access for through traffic will not be available – vehicles will be detoured, and customer parking will be available on nearby streets and in the Buxton Square carpark (access via the Collingwood Street entrance).
• Access for large deliveries, business owners and couriers will be made available as required – please coordinate with onsite staff.
• Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal with the assistance of onsite staff.
• Pedestrian access will be maintained safely to all businesses on Bridge Street.

This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
