(Proposed) Temporary Road Closures - Trafalgar Street
Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Isaac Construction to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Trafalgar Street – between no.181 and Wakatu Lane (including the Bridge Street intersection)
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 5 October to Saturday 28 November 2026 – starting at 6:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (this is a 24-hour a day closure)
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Contingency is included in the dates above.
The closure is for the installation of pipes, services and streetscape as part of the construction phase of the Bridge to Better Project.
- Vehicle access for through traffic will not be available – vehicles will be detoured.
- Roadside parking spaces within the closure will be unavailable - customer parking will be available on nearby streets and Buxton and Montgomery Squares.
- Access for large deliveries, business owners and couriers will be made available as required – please coordinate with onsite staff.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal with the assistance of onsite staff.
- Pedestrian access will be maintained safely to all businesses on Trafalgar Street and Bridge Street.
To understand how this closure could impact residents/businesses, Council is seeking feedback on this proposal by 7 August 2026
