Approved Temporary Road Closure - Tory Street

Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Ching Contracting to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:

Tory Street – full length

Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 31 August to Friday 25 September 2026 – starting at 7:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (24 hour a day closure)

Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Monday 28 September to Friday 9 October 2026 – starting at 7:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (24 hour a day closure)

The closure is for wastewater infrastructure upgrades.

• Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available most of the time – please follow the directions of onsite staff. Delays are likely.
• There will be periods when vehicle access is unavailable for residents - affected residents will be notified in advance by onsite staff.
• Roadside parking will be limited – please park on adjacent streets if possible.
• Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal – with the assistance of onsite staff.
• Pedestrian access will be provided safely at all times.

This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
