(Proposed) Temporary Road Closure - Sanitarium Weet-Bix TRYathlon 2027
TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE PROPOSAL – SANITARIUM WEET-BIX KIDS TRYATHLON 2027
Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Nelson Marlborough Traffic Management to temporarily close the following roads to ordinary traffic for the date/s listed below.
- Tāhunanui Recreation Reserve
- Bisley Walk
- Hounsell Circle
- Beach Road – between no.45 and the intersection with Golf Road
- Golf Road – full length
- Waikare Street – at the intersection with Beach Road
- Centennial Road – at the intersection with Golf Road
- Green Street – at the intersection with Golf Road
Date and time of scheduled closure: Sunday 21 February 2027 - 6:00 am – 1:30 pm
This is for the annual Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon.
- The event will be held from 7:00 am to 12:30 pm
- The roads will be closed, and access will be unavailable during this time, except in an emergency.
- Resident/business vehicle access will be available when safe to do so – please follow the directions of onsite staff
- The Route 4 eBus will be detoured for the duration of the closure. Please see eBus.nz for further information.
To understand how this closure could impact businesses/residents, Council is seeking feedback on this proposal by 12:00pm Wednesday 23 September 2026
