Approved Temporary Road Closure - Strawbridge Sq carpark accessway

Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Naylor Love to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Strawbridge Square carpark accessway - at the Songer Street entrance/exit
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 7 September to Friday 2 October 2026 – starting at 6:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (24 hour a day closure)
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Monday 5 October to Friday 16 October 2026 – starting at 6:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:00 pm on the last day (24 hour a day closure)
The road closure is for the final phase of the New World development, which includes upgrading the accessway from Songer Street to Strawbridge Square (service upgrades, road widening, and resurfacing).
- Vehicle access for customers/businesses, couriers and deliveries will be availablevia the Putaitai Street entrance and Neale Avenue exit
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal.
- Pedestrian access will be provided safely at all times via alternative entry/exit points.

This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
