Approved Temporary Road Closure - Neale Avenue

Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Downer to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Neale Avenue - between Acorn Way & Andrew Street
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 14 September to Thursday 17 September 2026 – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Monday 21 September to Thursday 24 September 2026 – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
The closure is for trenching across the road to install a new fibre optic connection for the residential development at 91 Neale Avenue
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available via alternate routes – residents within the closure will be assisted by onsite staff. Delays are possible.
- There will be no access through the closure area while the trench is being dug across the road.
- The road will reopen each day at 5:00 pm – closing again at 8:00 am the following morning.
- Roadside parking will not be available within the closure.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal.
- Pedestrian access will be provided safely at all times.

This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
