(Proposed) Temporary Road Closure - Kea Street & Kaka Street
Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Fulton Hogan to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
The closure is to carry out road repairs and adjustments to underground service covers prior to road resealing
STAGE 1: Kea Street between Main Road Stoke & Kaka Street
Date and time of scheduled closure: Tuesday 22 September to Wednesday 23 September 2026 – starting at 7:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:30 pm on the last day (24 hour a day closure)
STAGE 2: Kea Street – from the intersection with Kaka Street to Neale Avenue
Kaka Street - between no.42 & no.53
Date and time of scheduled closure: Wednesday 23 September to Friday 25 September 2026 – starting at 7:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:30 pm on the last day (24 hour a day closure)
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Monday 28 September to Wednesday 30 September 2026 – starting at 7:00 am on the first day and ending at 6:30 pm on the last day (24 hour a day closure)
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available – please follow the directions of onsite staff. Delays are likely.
- Roadside parking will be available.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal.
- Pedestrian access will be provided safely.
To understand how this closure could impact residents/businesses, Council is seeking feedback on this proposal by 17 September 2026
