Approved Temporary Road Closure - Marsden Road & Kakenga Road

Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Fulton Hogan to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
- Marsden Road - between no.35 and The Ridgeway intersection
- Kakenga Road - full length
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 5 October to Wednesday 7 October 2026 – 7:00 am to 6:30pm
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Thursday 8 October to Tuesday 13 October 2026 – 7:00 am to 6:30pm
The closure is for asphalt resurfacing on The Ridgeway at the intersection with Marsden Road, and chip seal resurfacing on Kakenga Road.
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available – but please be prepared for delays.
- Please follow the directions of onsite staff.
- No roadside parking will be available.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal.
- Pedestrian access will be provided safely.
- There will also be Stop/Go traffic management in place on The Ridgeway.

This proposal is made in accordance with the Local Government Act 1974. Unauthorised use of vehicles on the road during the closure period is not permitted and may constitute an offence.
