(Proposed) Temporary Road Closure - Hay Street
Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Fulton Hogan to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:
Hay Street – between Haven Road and no. 9 Hay Street (BP Truckstop)
Date and time of scheduled closure: Monday 12 October to Monday 30 November 2026 – starting at 7:30 am on the first day and ending at 5:00 pm on the last day (24-hour a day closure)
Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Tuesday 1 December to Sunday 6 December 2026 - starting at 7:30 am on the first day and ending at 5:00 pm on the last day (24-hour a day closure)
The closure is to enable construction of a new fuel supply line across Hay Street.
- Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will not be available – please use Vickerman Street or Wilderman Avenue to access the area.
- No roadside parking will be available.
- Rubbish and recycling bins will be collected as normal.
- Pedestrian & cycling access will be provided safely.
To understand how this closure could impact residents/businesses, Council is seeking feedback on this proposal by 9 October 2026
