(Proposed) Temporary Road Closure - Selwyn Place &Trafalgar Sq East

Nelson City Council has received a proposal from Green by Nature to temporarily close the following road/s to ordinary traffic between the dates listed below:

• Selwyn Place - between Park Street and the intersection with Trafalgar Square East
• Trafalgar Square East - between no.343 and the intersection with Selwyn Place

Date and time of scheduled closure: Wednesday 25 November to Thursday 26 November 2026 – 6:00 pm to 6:30 am

Contingency dates and times when closure may occur: Thursday 26 November to Friday 27 November 2026 – 6:00 pm to 6:30 am

The closure is for heavy pruning of the tree on the corner for safety reasons.

• This work will take place during the evening / overnight to minimise disruption to traffic.
• Vehicle access for residents/businesses, couriers and home help will be available via alternate routes & accommodated through the site if essential – please follow the directions of onsite staff & expect delays.
• Rubbish and recycling bin collection will not be affected.
• Pedestrian access will be provided safely.
• The Route 1 eBus will be granted access through the closure. Please see ebus.nz for further information.

To understand how this closure could impact residents/businesses, Council is seeking feedback on this proposal by 5 November 2026
