Status: Operative
The following proposed plan change was made Operative and has been incorporated into the Nelson Resource Management Plan (NRMP).
At its meeting on 14 December 2023 Council agreed with the Hearing Commissioners recommendation and approved Plan Change 31 with no amendments.
This was a Private Plan Change that, at is meeting on 4 May 2023, Council adopted the request as it wanted to make the changes in the area becuase there are now many other large format retailers on site. Supermarkets are similar in character and effect, therefore they should not be excluded.
Main Changes
Plan Change 31 amended Schedule N in the Nelson Resource Management Plan (NRMP) as follows:
- Deleted Rule N.3(3) which excluded supermarkets from the list of controlled activities in the Nelson Junction Area.
- Deleted a reference to Rule N.3(3) in Rule N.5, which makes supermarkets a non-complying activity.
- Deleted the definition of ‘Supermarket’.
