Halifax Street, Collingwood Street watermain upgrade

Contractors have begun the watermain upgrade across Halifax Street and Collingwood Street. For the majority of the project traffic will continue to flow in both directions. As the project continues, there will be a temporary loss of parking inside each work site.

The upgrade of this watermain will provide a direct benefit to the city centre and wider network by supplying larger volumes of water than is currently possible. The watermain is responsible for water that we drink, clean with and bathe in.

As with the larger Bridge to Better project, the upgrade of this watermain will allow for future growth in the inner city and surrounding areas.

Key Information

• Project duration 24 March 2025 - Late June 2025 (weather dependent)
• Traffic will flow in both directions for the majority of the project
• eBus Route 1, Route 3 and Route 4 will be detoured for the duration of the project.
