Help us bring colour and joy to the heart of Nelson! We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help plant the vibrant hanging baskets that make our city centre bloom each summer.
This year our volunteer planting sessions will be run by Green by Nature in their nursery on Beatty Street in Annesbrook. There is space for 10 volunteers at each session.
Volunteers will be planting 700 baskets, which will be installed in early December. The sessions are two and a half hours long and will see you planting petunias, impatiens, begonia and lobelia. Nursery staff will be on-hand to help and advise, if needed.
If you have a passion for flowers, a desire to learn, and a bit of time to spare, we’d love to have you on board!
The session times available are:
- Monday 13th October 9.00am to 11.30am and 1.00pm to 3.30pm
- Tuesday 14th October 9.00am to 11.30am and 1.00pm to 3.30pm
- Wednesday 15th October 9.00am to 11.30am and 1.00pm to 3.30pm
- Thursday 16th October 9.00am to 11.30am and 1.00pm to 3.30pm
New location: 65 Beatty Street, off Bolt Road and down the end of Rotheram Street. Parking is available with staff on site to guide you. Please see the map below.
Please bring your own gloves, closed-toe sturdy footwear and a good dose of enthusiasm.
