Application Fee

The current (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027) application fee is $163.50 incl GST

The application fee covers processing and inspection.

Vehicle Crossing Standards

• Although the road reserve is owned by the Council, vehicle crossings are to be installed at the property owner’s expense.
• Compliance depends on several factors, including location in relation to intersections and the type of road frontage.
• If there are obstacles to the proposed vehicle crossings, such as trees or stormwater pipes, please specify their distance from your proposed crossing in your application. This information will help us to provide you with options. There may be a required separation distance, and if this cannot be met, additional consent may be necessary.
• To install your vehicle crossing, you may wish to work with a consultant or contractor who can help ensure the design meets the necessary standards.
• You will be required to pay all costs associated with approved work, including the Corridor Access Request and Traffic Management Plan.

All applications for alterations or proposed new crossings must comply with the minimum standards below or have obtained a resource consent to breach those standards.

Council’s minimum standards for vehicle crossings are found in Section 4.10 Nelson Tasman Land Development Manual (NTLDM) and Appendix 11 of the Nelson Resource Management Plan.
