What to do if a car has been dumped nearby

Please call 03 546 0200 and report the vehicle. We will arrange for it to be removed and aim to track down those responsible for dumping it.

Under the Litter Act, individuals may be prosecuted for dumping vehicles, and the Council has successfully pursued such cases in the past. The dumping of unwanted vehicles remains an ongoing issue.

How you can help

If you see a car being dumped do not take action yourself - please observe discretely and then contact the Parking Team on 03 546 0200. Council is only able to prosecute if the vehicle dumping is actually witnessed.

When a car is dumped there is normally another vehicle involved, either towing the dumped vehicle or picking up the offender(s). To help, you can:

• Record the vehicle registration number, make, model and colour
• Provide a description of people involved
• Record the date and time the vehicle was dumped
