Voting in Nelson follows the Single Transferable Vote system, or STV for short.
How to rank your votes in STV?
You only need to rank the candidates you like — no need to number everyone. Vote in all three categories and start fresh at 1 each time.
Remember:
- Use numbers only – no ticks or crosses
- Start with 1 for your top choice
- Continue with 2, 3, and so on
- Skip the ones you don’t want to support
