My principal place of residence is in the Nelson City Council area. I am also standing for Council - At Large.

I am proud to give voters a genuine choice for Mayor in 2025. My vision for Nelson is a world leading sustainable city that we’re all proud to call home, where prosperity and sustainability go hand-in-hand. Nelson deserves a mayor with a strong vision of our shared future, a mayor who is transparent and respectful of our community, and a mayor who embraces positive change – I’m ready to lead that change.

As your Councillor, I’ve worked hard on issues that make the biggest difference to people’s lives. My priorities are a more democratic and transparent council, safe and affordable transport choices, a healthy environment, a region that is resilient to natural hazards, and a vibrant people-focused city centre.

I am collaborative, financially responsible, have good communication skills, and understand good leadership. My pledge is to work hard for the community so we can all move forward together.

God works in mysterious ways. The reason He refused to make my souls acquaintance is the
uplift His flocks lives by consecrating Me to combat escalating rate costs. To participate greedy landlords must reduce rent accordingly.

I intend to eradicate pointless arrogant squandering activity in council sphere.

But in pledging that, I will be awarding a respected dermatologist (unfortunately retired) the key to my metropolis.

Next time pompous parasites fantasy accelerates your descent into poverty, but you abstained to voice like minded passionate contempt you have only yourself to admonish. Hence, I believe I
act today in unison with the Almighty creator’s intention: Commanding hypocritical management to feed the Kiwi. I do service for the lord. Amen

My principal place of residence is in the Nelson City Council area.

My focus is on the future - revitalising the central city, improving our transport infrastructure,
attracting investment and keeping rate increases to less than 5%.

We have made strong progress this term repairing the city after the Aug ’22 storm, securing $500million for our hospital’s redevelopment, getting more affordable houses built, reducing
landfill emissions, introducing the new eBus service and building a more collegial Council.

My experience in Government has helped us secure funding of $12.3million for the storm recovery, $3.4million for the Tahunanui beach waste cleanup, $9million for flood protection and $5 million for a rain radar. My advocacy has helped reestablish NMIT as a standalone polytechnic and secure kiwi for our sanctuary.

Linley and I love Nelson - its creative spirit, diverse businesses, caring community, active lifestyle and natural beauty. We are proud to call it home and will give our all to make it even better.

My principal place of residence is not in the Nelson City Council area. I am also standing for Mayor for Buller DC, Grey DC, Westland DC, Tasman DC, and Councillor for Tasman DC - Lake-Murchison General Ward.

We’re facing multiple, interconnected, unprecedented crises. Conventional responses to symptoms of systemic failure are not good enough.

At www.moneyfreeparty.org.nz we’ve been proposing viable, science-based alternatives to the flawed profit-based system, aligning with our true nature, the biosphere, and humanity’s journey as one of emergence, discovery and progress.

The ‘root of all evil’, money, may be unnecessary. At Money Free NZ we researched what society would be like if everything were free and all work was voluntary. Without currency, trade or barter. The results were awesome. And, the more we’ve learned about it, the better it looks. Aren’t we in dire need of some real alternatives?

Surely we can do better. Take back control.

We have the technology, knowledge and hopefully the wisdom, to start changing our society’s direction. Towards one that has absolute integrity. A system designed for success. A Resource Based Economy. Let’s get started.

Resident for 40 years, I'm committed to safe, clean water for drinking, swimming and healthy Tasman Bay, with rainwater tanks for every new build.

Our communities mental and physical wellbeing during climate change depends on education, connecting people to nature. It is our foundation for resilience.

I champion true democracy where every citizen has an equal say, upholding Te Tiriti O Waitangi. Let Us focus on basics: air, water, food, shelter, sleep…

I oppose selling conservation land or rolling back environmental protections. Instead, I want to extend protections to flora, fauna, and water - when nature thrives, we all thrive.

We need proper resource management reforms, accountability for those with excessive power. Financial sustainability.

Your vote will enable me to bring forward your concerns because everyone of You are the fabric of our Society.

Nelson needs a council whose only agenda is to make Nelson the best city in New Zealand.

Ratepayers need to know that their rates are being well spent.

Council decisions must help, not hinder, local businesses because when businesses thrive, Nelson thrives.

Better solutions are required to keep our streets and communities safe and clean.

These are not priorities of our current council.

I grew up in Nelson. My 22-year secondary teaching career was mainly spent here along with most of my 14- year policing career, three in Youth Aid. I understand the challenges facing youth in a small city.

I have owned and run a successful business for the last 15 years. I understand the challenges business owners face in Nelson. Nelson needs strong, honest, common-sense leadership.

I believe I have the skills and experience to help make this city the best in New Zealand.

I offer consultation and community representation with humility, empathy, accountability and reliability; integrity and strength of character. He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. I have a track record of success - this is not my first rodeo.

I am a local writer, publisher, and genealogist. I regularly work sixty hour weeks, am full of vigor and volunteer with Age Concern. It is my pleasure to serve you, the people. Since 1990, I have been active in six General Election campaigns and promoted the introduction of MMP. Career skills include telecommunications, product development, technical sales, market research, stevedoring, and engineering maintenance.

My most recent paid employment was as payroll officer for The White House, Te Whare Ma.

Nelson-raised and resident for over forty years my professional background in communication, promotion, sales and negotiation afford me unique insight into the exciting challenges and opportunities, and those perils our city faces today. As CEO of Nelson Marina and a former chair of Denarau Island Resort and the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji, I know that strong governance and clear strategy create resilient communities and attracts new investment. My 25+ year career spans private enterprise, public authorities and nonprofits. I led Sea Mercy, a programme delivering health and disaster-relief services to remote Pacific Islands and turned Port Denarau Marina into a $100 million business while helping to build a $60 million a year maritime-tourism industry for Fiji.

A Bachelor of Commerce with Honours graduate and alumni of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, I understand fiscal prudence and accountability. A vastly experienced and qualified company director across several industries, I will bring fresh ideas, transparency and a collaborative spirit to Council championing fair rates, inclusive economic growth and environmental stewardship. A Nelson native, I am looking forward to giving back to our community.

I’m Susa Guhl, I am proud to live in Nelson, it would be my honour to serve the community I love.

Running my own real estate business in Nelson Tasman for over 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with a wide range of people which has given me an understanding of the challenges and aspirations that matter to our communities — now and into the future. This has shaped my understanding of the need for smart planning around housing and urban design for present and future generations.

I’ve worked with the Real Estate Authority (complaints committee) and I understand process, fairness, and the value of considering diverse perspectives.

Tim Skinner is a born & bred Nelsonian with a passion for social justice issues, environmental wellbeing, and building a healthy vibrant safe community.

As a City Councillor (12 years), Committee Chair (6 years), and Joint Nelson Tasman Business Unit deputy chair, he’s proven to be grounded, resilient and community focused.

With his business skills, Tim has consistently championed to keep rate rises down. He’s been a strong voice for families and local businesses and ensuring genuine transparent public engagement. Also shown he’s not afraid to speak his mind, and improve the culture of Council.

Tim has a strong desire for our city to be economically and environmentally secure and an affordable place to live and raise a family for future generations. He's married with four children, successfully run an own business 25 years, embraces Nelson’s lifestyle, and an active sportsman.

I’ve called Nelson home for over 20 years, raising two children here and enjoying all our creative, family-friendly city and region has to offer.

I moved to New Zealand in 1990 and to Nelson in 2002. I trained as a biologist but spent most of my career as an airline pilot with Air New Zealand, the Wellington Air Ambulance, and now fly part-time for local airline Originair.

I’m passionate about the arts. I play in the Nelson Symphony Orchestra and chair its committee. I was president of the Nelson Jazz Club and helped run the Jazz Festival. I also play in local bands and perform at retirement homes.

I know how to work with people to get things done. I want sustainable, inclusive development in Nelson that puts people first, cheap, reliable public transport, arts that are valued and supported, and thriving local businesses.

You deserve leaders who are strategic, thoughtful, and who approach politics as they would their home life or their business, with humility, always mindful of who they serve.

I have aspired during my first term on council to be a consistent voice for sensible and considered decision making, putting positive community outcomes above ideology and political point-scoring. It would be a privilege to continue to do so.

To deliver on your priorities, council needs to be able to function seamlessly. This often means protecting council from pet projects, hastily made decisions, or from politicians driven by building their own profile.

My wife and three young children are a constant reminder of my duty to strengthen and enhance this brilliant community that we are fortunate to call home. Finding a balanced path between managing cost pressures and ensuring consistent delivery of council’s services is my highest priority.

My place of residence is Stoke, Nelson.

I have been a Business Director for 25 years building a Nation-wide transport company called Austin Transport Services. I employed many Nelson staff, supported local suppliers and customers. My strengths are business and financial management, budgeting and problem solving.

Hard work, forward thinking, accountability and communication are skills and values I will bring to Council.

I am a proud sixth-generation Nelsonian, and if elected, I am committed to being a strong, independent voice for the Nelson community.

Rates, they continue to rise while wasteful spending continues without constraint or transparency.

I Matty Anderson am privileged to be nominated to restand as your Councillor. A committed Nelsonian, with a Niuean mother and Pakeha father. Born in Ashburton and raised in Tauranga. My 20 years in the Navy, which included two peacekeeping duties mean service is very important to me.

I love this community; it’s been good to me. I give back in a variety of voluntary and paid community roles. Ranging from community boards, working with disability, youth, pasifika, migrants, the homeless. Working with our most vulnerable.

I have extensive grassroots connections and will continue to advocate and support all those that need help. I have learnt a lot in my first term and will continue to serve.

As a father to 4 teenage boys, I will advocate for the youth of Whakatū and for Nelson to be a great place for all our families to live.

I am standing to help get us all singing from the same song sheet. The world faces unprecedented challenges and turning Nelson into a role model the rest of the country and the world looks to, to find out what it takes to be living so thoughtfully, looking after one another so well, and having such a good time doing it, could be our greatest contribution.

Visitors already envy us, but becoming an inspiring role model can’t be left to council alone. Being in the council chamber to advocate for our imaginative, entrepreneurial, energetic community, a community to which I owe so much, is something I want to do.

I’ve made Nelson my home for 25 years and have grown to love the district and the people who live here, and I’d like the opportunity to serve the great community I’ve become part of.

I’m a semi-retired woman who has worked in the live music industry in Nelson and all over New Zealand for 40 years, and I feel that the skills I’ve learnt (logistics, budgeting, problem solving, research, communications, etc.) would be a useful addition to the council table.

My main focusses for Nelson are our aging infrastructure, affordable housing, community resilience, transport, and the cost of living crisis, and I’m fully aware of budgetary constraints in the current economic climate.

As an architect, small business owner, and parent of three, I know the challenges families, young people, and local businesses face. Nelson is home to many immigrants and expats. Over a quarter of our population. I am one of them and I would like to give that a voice at the Council table.

I bring professional experience in auditing, finance and urban planning.

I stand for evidence-based decisions and accountability.

2014 I chose to live in New Zealand because it stood for opportunity and action. Nelson was a thriving hub with good economy, rich cultural life, and space for bold and different ideas.

Since COVID, that spark has faded. Young people are leaving and enterprise struggles. Our city needs more than retirement villages to have a future.

I'm standing to help Nelson orient itself on the drive of its founders.

I would like to see living here being worthwhile for those that make Nelson, what it is. Entrepreneurs, pioneers, cultural activists and artists of all colors.
