Skating in Nelson

Neale Park skatepark is Nelson's premier skatepark

The concrete is cast and curvey at Neale Park skatepark. Completed in 2008 to a design shaped by our skating community's own ideas, it's the place to skate in Nelson.

The skatepark can be accessed via Neale Park (Sovereign Street entrance), check out the map below for directions.

Where you can't skate

Bylaw 207 - Parking and Vehicle Control states that skating is not allowed in the CBD areas of Nelson, Stoke and Tahunanui, as well as in the area of Victory Square shops.

Bylaw 207 was amended in 2012 to allow skateboards, roller skates, inline skates and wheeled recreational devices to travel on footpaths on the outer side of Rutherford and Collingwood Street (these devices remain banned on footpaths on the CBD side of these streets).
